    Default Can I have.......?

I know there's a thread on the main forum but I thought it might be useful to have one here, especially for newcomers. I love olives, especially ones stuffed with anchovy. I usually buy Fragata brand tins but looking at the ingredients I was surprised to see that there's some MSG in there. I suppose that means that they're a no-no. Are there any brands that are ok? and can I have them on P1?

You can have olives in P1 but I'm not sure about anchovy stuffed ones. I buy pitted olives from Tesco deli counter mainly because I feel you get more for your money as you're not paying for the stones!

I get my olives from aldi very reasonable ( under a pound for 100g) and only in olive oil

Sometimes I'm happy with just a bag of green olives and a fizzy water for lunch I buy them with stones in brine usually - I prefer the ones with stones as they don't then soak up so much of the salt.

I get mine (pitted) from Lidl with garlic pieces. Yummy and at a good price.

The ones in oil? They seem to have stopped doing them here - highly annoying, as they were one of my staples, too!

I'm onto "ordinary" ones now, and soak them in oil and herbs myself...

Yes Ina, those are the ones. I hope they won't take them off the market here.

I love olives in oil too. Time was when I preferred the black ones, but now I like the bitterer green ones. Marksies do some nice manzanilla olives - they're quite small, but the flavour is strong and they go a long way.

Most of the time the answer is "check the ingredients"

I just wish they'd make the writing bigger or clearer!
