    Default Avocado Oil for cooking?

Pros, cons? I saw someone say no for cooking but without a reason, so Iím unclear why it would be a problem.

Iím interested because my usual butter is causing the delicate smoke alarm in my apartment to go off all the time and I do try to be a good neighbour! Avocado oil has a much higher smoke point which should stop that happening... Although Iíll take any other advice as well (that doesnít involve moving/changing the alarm - Iím in a long term hotel type arrangement so thatís not an option)

Aside from cost, I see no reason not to use it. Other opinions are available.

According to https://jonbarron.org/diet-and-nutri...t-smoke-points, Lars isnít much higher than butter, with avocado oil at the top. But ghee is close behind so that might be an alternative if the avocado is too Ďnuttyí in taste

I find avocado oil to be fairly neutral in taste.

As far as I know avocado oil (cold pressed) is OK. You could try part which has a really high smoke point and is delicious.

Success! I fried a fish fillet in cold pressed avocado oil last night and didn't taste anything unusual...and the smoke alarm didn't go off!
