Very interesting Rosey. My 9mth old granddaughter chews on meat, even though she only has two teeth! She isn't spoon fed at all, no "rice cereal" type of mush, just bits of whatever is for dinner put on her high chair table and she feeds herself. Though to be honest I'm not sure how much actually goes in - always lots of squashed bits on the floor afterwards!

I hope this is an independent study and not financed by meat producers otherwise it will be shot down because of bias.

Never gave my daughter any processed rubbish, she was weaned on real food from the word go. I have not seen a mouli in shops for years but can be brought from Amazon of course.

My daughter didn't like Purity / processed food at all.
I took some of food out of our meals, mashed it up and placed it into the freezer in ice cube trays. She loved this.
In the beginning she only ate one cube and then as she became bigger the cubes became more. She still likes her veg

The latest view of weaning babies (in this part of the world) is “baby led weaning” which involves giving babies whole foods from the start. No baby rice or puréed foods, straight into finger foods. It’s scary to see at first for oldies like me who spent the weaning phase cooking and puréeing veggies and they are learning to feed themselves from the start.

This is what my daughter is doing with her baby Carol. When I think of all the time I spent cooking up veggies and blending them then spoon feeding them into reluctant mouths!

At least those who are doing this aren't buying all those squeezy packets and jars of Heinz baby foods.
