Default Would this make you happy?

No wonder people are confused about what to eat. Every week the newspapers print yet another diet.

Today's offering in the Telegraph is The Happy Diet which is supposed to lift your spirits. The round-up of what you should eat is as follows:

    Daily

    Fruit - 3 portions
    Vegetables - 6 portions
    Whole grains - 5 - 8 portions [eg 16g uncooked brown rice]
    Olive oil - 4 tbsp
    Nuts - 30g
    Dairy - 2 - 3 portions [eg 200ml milk, 125g yogurt, 30g cheese]

    Weekly

    Eggs - up to 6
    Legumes - 3 - 4 servings
    Poultry - 2 - 3 portions [about 80g each]
    Lean red meat - 3 - 4 portions [less than 80g each]
Fish - at least 2 portions [140g each]

Well, if the steak I'm having for my dinner tonight had been trimmed of fat and weighed less that 80g, I certainly would NOT be happy!!

With you on that one Babs.

The whole grains and legumes would have me in crippling joint pain before the end of the first week. But anyway, what is a portion? Surely by their definition this is merely a calorie defecit diet and we should be eating until satisfied or no longer hungry rather than restricting our intake to some "diet sheet" formula!!

Unhappy diet as far as I'm concerned. I love my meat.

I googled the Telegraph article, but the paywall got in the way.
I had about 150g of chicken last night. I guess that's my 2 portions for the week right there. There is no way I'd be satisfied with less. In a diet like this, all the "healthy whole grains" are there to take the place of the far more nutritious animal protein. If I ate all those grains, I'd be severely bloated, sleepy, depressed and fat.
Dear Stomach, you are bored, not hungry. So shut up.

For me, it's "no wheat and plenty of meat" that keeps me happy!

    Why only 6 eggs???

Even the govt have, albeit quietly, rescinded the limit for eating eggs.
