    Thanks Mat, that worked.

    HC I think you are very right to be concerned. How can our farmers compete with cheap foreign imports if the welfare standards are not the same?

    That’s the issue about chlorinated chicken - the chlorine levels won’t be harmful. But if it’s going to be washed, you can get away with much lower standards!

    The obvious answer for the affluent is to only buy locally produced meat and veg. Those who will potentially suffer are the people on a tight budget.
