Default Body Fat Percentage

hello gorgeous people of gorgeousness,

so I have some beautiful all singing, all dancing scales.. which tell me scary things like water content and fat percentage.

so what i am wondering is does anyone else know what they are? and what we should be? (Zoe - what are you??)..

I have been a little off the wall this last year with regards my eating (but very much back on track now) and my fat percentage is 27% (!!!) thats over quarter of me!
so what should I be aiming for??

That seems quite a good fat percentage to me. I am usually around 30%.
Here is the Wikipedia definition, which seems to have quite a useful table.

I hover around the mid 20s.
Be careful with those scales as the readings are calculated from some other measurements. A small change in water content can have a huge impact on fat calculation.
I can't remember Zoe's, she does have all the curves in the right places, though :-)

I have the magic scales too, but never really thought about fat percentage - I can see where my 'fat' is when I look at myself naked in the mirror :-)

She's a lovely person and it's easy to find lovely things to say about her. (And I admit, I'm very biased)

Womens body fat should be about 10 percent higher than a mans of a similar BMI because we are supposed to store more fat. it is usually higher than the BMI figure, but the it does go up on the scales if you are dehydrated.
Think mine is about 23% it used to be 30% so has gone down lots.

For example hubbys is really low 14% but that equates to a similar level to me as I am a woman. Obviously it also is important where the fat is stored!! ie not around the waist.
