Caught by chance an item on Steph’s Packed Lunch yesterday. A guest had the syndrome that when he ate certain foods he became drunk even though he had no alcohol. It’s a condition where the fermentation process in the gut turns some foods to alcohol. (I looked it up on Wikipedia). Took a while to diagnose and as they were talking I realised what diet they’d put him on. Yes, low carb. All made sense when you recall Prof. Lustig’s talks about children having livers like chronic alcoholics. Shame they didn’t take the opportunity to warn folk about the danger of hidden sugars.
