Thread: Don't Wash Your Hair!

According to hubby I did it wrong the first time ie I used 5 grams of clay and applied it to dry hair and let it sit on my hair for 20 mins, looking like Ken Dodd. So, this morning I took his advice and used 10 grams on wet hair in the shower.

Wrong! It has so much 'hold' that it's sat on my head like a birds nest made of twigs. Could be many reasons

    a) I accidentally found the best formula for me 1st time round
    b) maybe the additional clay needed additional rinsing

So I'm thinking of doing the clay once a week, and trying the egg wash with ACV rinse every other day in between. Eventually I'll find out what suits me best...
I personally think it would be better to use less anything at the beginning. Even if the dog gives you funny looks.
When I stopped shampooing I tried to get through one week or longer and washed my hair only with water and rinsed with AVC in between.
I am not sure but I think more then once a week eggwash may not be so good. I have no argument for that. It's just a feeling.
I now use clay only for my body ( once a week on Sundays. Lol ) as my hair became to fly away ish after the wash. When brushing, it ended being a big halo. And my hair is long!
After eggyolk wash with lemon rinse it's awesome and it keeps over a week with a water wash in between.

I used 20 gr of clay for all: long hair and full body.

Oh and I read somewhere adding a few drops of oil to the clay would be beneficial for dry hair. Not tried it yet. Maybe this would fix the flyaway issue.

In the end it's all experimenting.
Never thought about putting clay on dry hair ....

Just to add some controversy, l thought the whole point of not washing was literally that - to allow the hair to self clean?

yes! Fully agree The idea is to let the scalp find its natural balance.
Still believe you need water washes to get rid of sweat and other dirt.
I see eggyolk more a treatment for the hair which surprisingly cleans it as well.
Clay is a natural cleaner as it has such a big surface that it binds dirt, oil etc and takes it away (also animals like to clean their coats by rolling in clay/sand/mud)
But I think it strips the hair too much in the lengths when done too often.
I never tried bicarb as it sounds a bit too "chemical" to me

All I do is water rinse- daily!

Pour a pint of water over it - towel-dry it and then style it (if you can call it style)

That may be Ciorstain's purpose, mine is different. Mine is to rid myself of the chemicals in the house - both home cleaning chemicals and body cleaning chemicals. So how often I wash myself or my hair isn't a factor. What I wash in, is.

Hubby now uses no cleaning chemicals around the house - he's an essential oil and vinegar man.
My mind is like my PC screen: 19 tabs open on the top bar, 3 of them are frozen, 25 half written emails on the bottom bar, and I have no idea where the music is coming from...

I dry mine upside down with the hairdryer and wait for the grease build up to style it (I've always had very oily skin and hair) it never fails...

Linda, Knowing a bit about the background, I get where you are coming from. Mr L is doing well to remove everything from his cleaning. Note how I don't include you in that.

Hi Mamie, we are slowly but surely turning into that house of nutty Eco hippies that my friends and I used to laugh at. Minus the lentils and dream catchers xx
