Bacon/packaged meats generally are a challenge. Preservatives are actually OK. The key thing to avoid is sugar and all the things with 'ose' – dextrose is the main one that they slip into ham and bacon. The bacon over the counter should be just cut meat, or go for any packaged bacon without an 'ose' in it.
